WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the first installment of the Sakura Samurai – Summer Movie Series, The Japan-America Society of Washington DC (JASWDC) will present an outdoor screening of the film, A Tale of Samurai Cooking: A True Love Story on July 22nd. This event is hosted in partnership with The Japan Foundation New York, Friends of the National Arboretum, and the National Bonsai Foundation.
The movie screening will be held in the meadow at the United States National Arboretum, a botanical garden providing a refreshing outdoor venue for attendees to gather and socialize while viewing the first installment of the Sakura Samurai series. This series is a participating event of JASWDC’s Sakura Matsuri 2021 – Year in Bloom. In accordance with CDC guidelines individuals who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 must wear a mask and maintain social distancing throughout the event.
The Sakura Samurai – Summer Movie Series is a ticketed event. Early bird tickets are available for purchase on the JASWDC website from June 30th through July 18th. No cancellations, refunds, or ticket purchases will be accepted after Sunday, July 18th.

We will open gates to attendees at 8 pm EDT, and the film will start at 9 pm EDT. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Friday, July 23rd. We will notify attendees on Thursday, July 22nd at noon if we must reschedule.
