WASHINGTON, DC (February 28, 2024) – The Japan-America Society of Washington DC is pleased to announce that Shigeo Yamada, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the United States of America, will serve as an Honorary Patron to the Society. Ambassador Yamada joins the Society in this ceremonial role alongside Rahm Emanuel, Ambassador of the United States of America to Japan.
Ambassador James P. Zumwalt, Chairman of the Japan-America Society of Washington DC, welcomed Ambassador Yamada, saying, “I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Ambassador Yamada for many years during his career with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and I am personally delighted to welcome him to the Society in this capacity.”
