To the JASWDC Family:

We hope you are all finding ways to survive the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. During this time, JASWDC is striving to bring our Japanese cultural and intellectual programming to you virtually, and we hope that this helps in some way to brighten what, for so many of us, has been a dark time.

While JASWDC’s Sakura Matsuri-Japanese Street Festival remains suspended until further notice, we are excited to host the Digital Japan Bowl on May 28th, and we invite you all to tune in and cheer on this year’s nearly 200 high school competitors from across the country (details coming soon).

Our Japanese Language School has gone fully online for the time being, and with enrollment levels for this semester at an all-time high, we will look for ways to expand our offerings for the summer semester in order to accommodate more students. The JASWDC Cooking Class is back in action with bi-weekly interactive cooking classes. We have accelerated production of our YouTube-based “Weekly Nihongo” and Japan-in-a-Suitcase tutorial videos, and we will soon begin an interview series aimed at giving our local members an intimate view of the feeling on the street in Japan.

We welcome your feedback and your creative suggestions on what you need during this time and how we can best serve our community given the constraints of the COVID-19 era. In the meantime, we are so grateful to you for your understanding, patience, and support. We’re in this together.
