WASHINGTON, D.C. – In the second and final installment of the Sakura Samurai – Summer Movie Series, The Japan-America Society of Washington DC (JASWDC) will host an outdoor screening of Harakiri 切腹 on Friday, August 13th at the Wharf DC. This event is hosted in partnership with The Japan Foundation New York.

While watching Harakiri, a black & white samurai film classic, attendees can enjoy the Wharf’s beautiful waterfront views and order a custom Sakura Samurai cocktail from Cantina Bambina or a specialty Japanese bento from NARA-YA.  Bento must be pre-ordered and are available for purchase on the JASWDC website until Tuesday, August 10. Drinks will be available to purchase at the event.

The Sakura Samurai – Summer Movie Series is a ticketed event. Early bird tickets are available for purchase on the JASWDC website from July 30th through August 8th. No cancellations or refunds will be accepted after Monday, August 9th.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for members and non-members.

  • Early Bird Admission Ticket – JASWDC Members:$10.00
  • Early Bird Admission Ticket –Non-JASWDC Members: $12.00
  • Admission Ticket – Children 6 years and under: FREE

Gates open at 6PM ET, and the film will start at 7PM ET. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday, August 14th. We will notify attendees on Friday, August 13th at noon if we must reschedule. This series is a participating event of JASWDC’s Sakura Matsuri 2021 – Year in Bloom. In accordance with CDC guidelines individuals who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 must wear a mask and maintain social distancing throughout the event.
