The Japan-America Society of Washington, D.C. has decided to postpone the Sakura Matsuri-Japanese Street Festival, previously scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The Society made this decision in consultation with public health authorities. The Sakura Matsuri-Japanese Street Festival is a Premier Event of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. For updates on the National Cherry Blossom Festival visit http://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org

2020 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Sakura Matsuri, and we look forward to rescheduling the Festival at the earliest prudent date. Please follow JASWDC Twitter (@jas_wdc), Facebook (@jas.wdc), and Instagram (@jaswdc) feeds for further information and updates. For those who have purchased tickets to the Festival, the Society will honor these tickets on the rescheduled date.

This has been a difficult decision for all of us. We would like to express our deepest thanks to our community, our tens of thousands of attendees, hundreds of dedicated volunteers, superb national and international performers and vendors, and outstanding sponsors and supporters. Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

Amid these difficult decisions, the Society is excited to announce it will be proceeding with the National Japan Bowl 2020 by moving the competition to a digital platform. In this way, we hope to retain the essence of the competition and allow all the students to put their hard work to the test!

Thank you again for your continued support and understanding through this challenging time.
