Join us for our next Japanese cooking class and learn how to make oden! Oden is the ultimate winter comfort food in Japan. This dish features daikon, boiled eggs, and fish cakes in a rich dashi soup stock that is enjoyed across Japan in the winter. So grab your donabe and join us for this winter favourite!

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 400 g daikon radish
  • 6 medium size potatoes
  • 6 boiled eggs
  • 6 strips of dried kombu
  • 1 block of konnyaku 
  • 1 pack of 5 small chikuwa
  • 1 pack of ball satsuma-age
  • 1 pack of flat satsuma-age
  • 1 pack of 3 ganmodoki
  • 1 pack of gobo-maki
    *** You may also purchase an oden pack from your local Asian grocer that should contain most if not all of these types of fish cake. 
  • 1500 ml (about 6 1/4 cups) dashi stock
  • 45 ml soy sauce
  • 45 ml mirin
  • 30 ml sake
